Noisy campaigning will come to an end on Sunday evening , 48 hours before the closing of the polling day. Additional District
Magistrate (ADM), who is nodal officer for implementing the code of conduct, said that political activists from other places should not be seen in the constituencies.
No rallies and public meetings will be allowed from Sunday evening. Campaigning using other media such as television, cinema and radio will also be banned.
The district has 25,85,151 voters spread across the parliament constituencies of Palakkad and Alathur. In Palakkad constituency
comprising Assembly segments of Pattambi, Shoranur, Ottappalam, Kongad, Mannarkkad, Malampuzha and Palakkad, there are 13,20,680 voters. As many as 6,45,012 of them are men and 6,75,663 women. There are five transgender voters as well.
In Alathur constituency comprising Tarur, Chittur, Nemmara, Alathur, Chelakkara, Kunnamkulam and Vadakkanchery Assembly segments, there are 12, 64,471 voters.
As many as 6,18,629 of them are men and 6,45,838 women.
There are three transgender voters and one voter in the other category.
Strong room observation officers were appointed for Aryanet Institute of Technology, Mundur, which will be the counting centre for Palakkad and Alathur Lok Sabha constituencies.
Malampuzha Assembly constituency assistant returning officer (ARO) Sree Kumar will be in charge of the counting centre.
