‘Cong disguising own workers as Akalis’
Ludhiana: The former SAD MLA Darshan Singh Shivalik has raised questions on the joining of Akalis from Jhamedi village in Congress party. He alleged that since Congress was baffled with the thoughts of defeat in elections, it has been disguising its own party workers as Akalis so that they could spread the impression of Akalis joining Congress amongst voters to establish their popularity.

The former MLA and district president (rural) of SAD Shivalik conducted a press conference in Barewal on Friday over this issue.

While addressing the mediapersons, Shivalik said while Congress MP and candidate Ravneet Bittu was in Gill constituency, along with Congress MLA Kuldeep Vaid, they announced that sarpanch of Jhamedi village Lakhwinder Kaur, her husband Sikander Singh and panch Sher Singh joined Congress from SAD. He said in reality no leader or party worker from SAD has joined Congress. Shivalik said as far as Gill constituency is considered, all Akali workers there are supporting party candidate Maheshinder Singh Grewal.

The former MLA questioned Ravneet Bittu and asked him to come out in the public with a list of his development works in the past five years. He said Congressmen were switching to Akali Dal and Congress leaders were unable to digest this fact.

MLA from Gill constituency Kuldeep Vaid refuted all allegations and said Akali Dal was in a bad condition as party workers have now started leaving the party so such kind of reaction from them is quite expected.
