Australian astrologist Pia Lehmann (pictured) revealed which signs get on best in the workplace

Your star sign might be the reason you're not getting along with your boss.

Australian astrologer Pia Lehmann looked at each of the twelve sun signs to decipher how they react as bosses and which other members of the zodiac they work well with.

From an 'explosive' Aries leader to an ambitious Capricorn, these are the common traits they exhibit in the workforce.  

ARIES 

Your Aries boss is a natural innovator and leader. They can be explosive but do not hold grudges for long. Note they will want to WIN and be FIRST, Pia explained.

They work well with followers that share their dynamic approach. Remember, they lead.

If a company is in trouble an Aries manager is often the person sorting it out.

If you are looking for a cushy position or your life is going through a down phase, where you cannot give your best, do not work for an Aries boss. He expects overtime and rearrangement of your own plans to fit in with company projects.

If you want a place with action, this is the one to be with.

You can win their heart with honesty and enthusiasm, never with procrastination.

Compatible: The fire signs of Leo and Sagittarius should get on well, since the enthusiasm is shared and you are as outright spoken as Aries is.

Difficulty: Capricorns. Your ambitions might clash. If you are a Cancer you might easily feel hurt by the brash, quick tempered Aries. If you are Libra, indecisiveness is a characteristic an Aries cannot tolerate. Aries does not try to please people but goes forth regardless what other people think and does not mind stepping on a few toes.

TAURUS 

Your Taurus boss is security conscious, practical, dependable and loyal. Their ideas can be fixed as they dislike change, Pia said.

Do not mistake their mild, patient friendly way as being a marshmallow. Their patience has a limit and without warning can explode when you least expect it.

The company is their kingdom, they are good with finances and are careful not to invest in new things too quickly.

You can win their heart with loyalty, and never with frivolous behaviour.

Compatible: Virgo and Capricorn because they are both practical earth signs and should talk the same language as their Taurean boss.

Difficulty: Leo can be too extravagant and might be bored by the Taurean conservative nature. Aquarius might get impatient, since your ideas are innovative and new and your Taurus boss tends to follow traditions and is slow to catch on.

Scorpio can go both ways, it can be a mutual attraction or a repulsion. Scorpio wants emotional security and Taurus wants material security. The Taurus boss (ruled by Venus) might be hurt by the occasional sting of Scorpio (traditional ruler Mars). 

GEMINI 

Your quick-witted Gemini boss may be very entertaining with their stories. They can easily talk themselves out of a tricky situation, are restless and talented at multi-tasking. 

They like ideas and theories. There will be change and it will never be boring. Geminis usually do not last long in the same position, so there might be room for you to climb the ladder.

You can win their heart with a joke but never with tears. Bring them more information, they will love it!

Compatible: With the other air signs of Aquarius and Libra sharing their intellect and ideas and cracking a joke.

Difficulty: Virgo can be too pedantic and Pisces too sensitive and dreamy for an intellectual Gemini boss who is not really interested in deeper emotions.

Sagittarius can work both ways. They like the big picture and a goal, as an employee you might get frustrated with the information gathering Gemini boss, changing direction frequently and perhaps being too scattered and too much detail for a Sagittarian who sees the big picture.

A Sagittarius employee can work out if she is employed as a sales rep. 

CANCER 

Your Cancer boss is working hard: For money. Because money is their security. They are not greedy, but they know how to save money and are quite thrifty.

With their intuition they know what people want and give it to them with a profit. They can be conservative, nurturing and maternal. Full of empathy and politeness. You can learn a lot from a Cancer boss, often they are self-made people. Family oriented, they can bring out the best in people.

They are tenacious, maternal, protective, emotional and have a good memory.

Win their heart: With a neat appearance, being polite and be caring about his family.

Compatible with: Scorpio and Pisces since they are empathetic water signs.

Difficulty: Aries is too outspoken and Libra - they tend to spend too much money, possibly for a more aesthetic office interior; from a Cancer's point of view this is a pure waste of money.

Capricorn can appear to be too cold and calculating for a Cancer boss. 

LEO 

If you work for a Leo boss, then you must be an excellent, diligent worker, Pia said.

Leo bosses know how to delegate, especially the mundane tasks. They have a huge ego and don't be surprised if they take your idea as their own. 

The Leo boss is very generous and lives beyond their budget. They love children and have a big heart. Leo bosses know how to surround themselves with people of fame and influence. Your life will never be boring working for a Leo boss.

Win his heart: Admire them, pay them compliments, listen to them, thank them and do all the small chores for them. They will reward you and possibly your family too.

Compatible with: Aries and Sagittarius. They are optimistic and would share your enthusiasm and optimism. Also Virgo, they would be ideal to execute the mundane tasks and attention to detail.

Difficulty: With Taurus - could be too conservative; with Scorpio there would be a power clash; and Aquarius is far too frugal for a Leo.

SAGITTARIUS

Your Sagittarius boss is an entrepreneur par excellence. They see the big picture, opportunities no end and are very optimistic. They like to deal on an international level. 

They are fighting hard for their convictions, after all, remember that they see the big picture and are in the right. And they have a skill to talk themselves out of any situation.

Life will never ever be boring with a Sagittarius boss, there will always be new plans, big theories and actually you might learn a lot, since Sagittarius can be good teachers.

Win their heart: Don't sweat the small stuff. They have no time for your complaints, after all they are just concluding another big business deal. You need to learn to make a lot of excuses for them and their way of putting people's back up. 

Compatible: Aries and Leo share their fiery nature, optimism, leadership style and enthusiasm.

Difficulty with: Virgo is far too pedantic for them, lacking that big picture, Pisces would really have to toughen up, because they are very sensitive.

Gemini carries a lot of information which might be too detailed for Sagittarius who would lose interest quickly.

VIRGO 

Your Virgo boss pays attention to details. They are very industrious, clean and health conscious. 

Not your typical CEO they are often better at playing a background role of an analyst or adviser to the board. They can be anxious and overwhelmed by too much detail.

Virgo bosses are very reliable and genuine and fair, they do not mind rolling up their sleeves and working late. Their work ethic is second to none. And they will pay you what you are worth.

A Virgo boss can be critical, fault finding but hates to be criticised, since the ego is not that strong.

Win their heart: Try to be perfect and conscientious, by not making mistakes and do not criticise them. Appear on time and be practical and reliable.

Compatible: Taurus and Capricorn because they usually are reliable and steady.

Difficulty: Gemini can be far too scatterbrained and Sagittarius too sloppy and outspoken for a Virgo.

Pisces is far too chaotic and sensitive for them. 

LIBRA 

Is your boss elegant? The best dressed in the company? And good looking? Librans tend to have a good taste and an eye for art in any form, Pia said.

They like harmony and are interested in resolving conflict. There are many females amongst Libra bosses, and they may be a little more decisive than their male. 

Generally, the Libran find it hard to make a decision, since they want to please all.

Libra bosses are creative both in thought and speech as well as manually. They have tact and know how to bring feuding parties together. 

Win their heart: Be friendly, do not gossip and do not expect them to take sides. Talk about love and art and they will love it.

Compatible: Gemini and Aquarius match their intellect.

Difficulty: Cancer and Capricorn. Cancer is far too emotional and concerned about the family and Capricorn tends to be matter of fact and too stern and conservative for a Libra boss.

Aries might be too forward and self-centred for a Libra boss and Libra might feel threatened. Aries can be too brash and not polished enough for a refined Libra.

SCORPIO

So your Scorpio boss is quiet and does not let you see through? Yet they observe everything.

Just like an X-ray they know. They can be a doctor, psychologist or a banker, it's always about wisdom and power. They need connection and therefore only feel secure once they really know you. And all your secrets too.

If you'd rather keep your secret, then don't work for them because they will find out. They can know your most intimate thoughts but nobody will guess theirs.

Unlike Leo or Aries who announce their ambitions, Scorpio keeps theirs secret until they overtake them all, very quietly. Scorpio's determination and ambition is a fact. 

There is no grey, as they either like you and then will help you and further your career. If they do not like you, I doubt you will last.

Win their heart: By being totally loyal and dependable and secretive. The selected few working for them will form like an inner circle. They can be very suspicious, make sure you keep their trust.

Compatible: Cancer and Pisces have similar intuition but Scorpio KNOWS.

Difficulty with: Aquarius, Taurus or Leo because they would try to take over or do their own thing. That would not work because Scorpio wants control and power. 

CAPRICORN 

Very ambitious and wants to move up the ladder into the right circles. 

Not like a Leo with flamboyance, no, this one is traditional, just like the Royals. A Capricorn boss is a very good business person, good with figures, keeping control without needing the limelight. 

They are a very private person, shy in a way. Their home is in the office, perhaps decorated with family photos. To their employees they are like a shepherd, a father figure, stern but fair. 

In a way the Capricorn has a heart for older people, successful people. They might be impressed with famous private schools or relatives of rank. 

Win their heart: Don't waste time, be productive, self-motivated and recognise extra chores to do without being asked.

Compatible: Taurus and Virgo share the same down to earth practicality and matter of fact attitude.

Difficulty: Aries might be too competitive for a Capricorn boss and too impatient; Libra would spend too much money and be too indecisive and talk too much on the phone with their friends.

Cancer likes to leave the office and go home; Capricorn is at home at the office. 

AQUARIUS 

Your Aquarius boss can be very detached, impersonal and independent.

Future oriented, savvy with technical equipment, they can be a minimalist and idealist. 

We do not find many Aquarian corporate bosses; they would get bored by office routine. They have no pleasure to lead others. 

They like to be informed but will never be shocked. They will never give you advice about your personal life; remember they are detached.  

Aquarius can be erratic and very changeable. 

They pay you what you are worth but not more. Money is not a driving force for Aquarius.

Win their heart: Community projects for the greater good, save the whales, Greenpeace these are all topics that interest an Aquarian. Talk about time travel or anything futuristic and they will love it.

Compatible: Gemini and Libra will share many interesting talks.

Difficulty: Taurus cannot adapt so quickly to keep up with their changes and Scorpio is power and money oriented - these fixed signs might clash with stubborn Aquarius who wants it their way and so do they.

Leo tends to be far too ego flashing. I doubt as a Leo employee you will be happy under an Aquarian boss. Aquarian bosses do not like people living beyond their means. 

PISCES 

Dreamy Pisces is difficult to pinpoint. Not your typical boss unless in the right industry.  

Pisceans are very sensitive and sometimes find it difficult to deal with the harshness of this world. 

They are dreamers and unless they have a Capricorn moon or similar, they find it difficult to be an authority figure in the corporate world. 

They are a romantic, love nature; maybe lead a dance studio or they are the CEO of s charitable organisation. Pisceans are formidable hotel directors since they love to serve customers and humanity as whole. 

Win their heart: Be practical to realise their dreams. Suggest they travel, they will love it.

Compatible: Cancer and Scorpio are empathetic water signs.

Difficulty: Gemini and Sagittarius - Gemini is too intellectual and Sagittarius too outspoken and tactless for a sensitive Piscean.
