General Elections 2019

Rarely seen promoting a political leader, India's richest man seems to have decided to take side openly in this general election. Mukesh Ambani, in a video released by Congress candidate from Mumbai South Milind Deora, is seen promoting Mr. Deora along with Uday Kotak of the Kotak Mahindra group.

“Having represented South Mumbai for 10 years,I believe Milind has in-depth knowledge of social, economic and cultural eco-system of the south Bombay constituency,” said Mr Ambani in the video released on the Congress candidate’s Twitter account. He added that “Milind is the man for south Mumbai.”

In the video that promoted Mr. Deora as someone who can bring businesses and jobs in this area, Mr Ambani said, “Both micro enterprises and big businesses can thrive in Mumbai. So that attractive employment opportunities can be created for talented young men and women.”

Mr. Kotak described the Congress candidate as, “Milind truly describes ‘Mumbai ka connection.’ He said Mr. Deora genuinely understood and correlated to Mumbaikars. He also mentioned how Mr. Deora's family (his father and former Union Minister, the late Murli Deora) was associated with Mumbai for long time.

The video shows from smallest of businesses like panwala and medium business houses promoting Mr Deora and his ability to create jobs.
