The highest quantum of seizures among the 14 constituencies going for the polls on Thursday was in Bengaluru South.
Data released by the Election Commission shows that of the about ₹39.45-crore worth of freebies and cash seized across the 14 constituencies, Bengaluru South reported the highest seizures of ₹9.09 crore, including ₹1.27-crore worth of precious metals and ₹5.07 crore in cash. Bengaluru South is followed by Mysuru constituency where seizures amounted to ₹5.18 crore, including ₹1.26- crore worth of precious metals and ₹1.61 crore in cash.
In Mandya constituency, where enough political heat was generated over the past fortnight, the seizures amounted to ₹1.78 crore.
The lowest seizures has been reported from Kolar — where ₹37.44-lakh worth of freebies have been seized — followed by Chamarajanagar (₹73.26 lakh) and Dakshin Kannada (₹96.98 lakh), respectively.
