Taking serious note of the Municipal Council employees’ lacklustre approach towards cleanliness in the city, Deputy Commissioner Chander Gaind directed the Punjab Pollution Control Board to initiate action against the Municipal Council for not adhering to solid waste rules.

He also ordered the municipal officials to confiscate the trolleys of the waste collectors, blacklist them, besides taking departmental action against guilty MC employee.The DC directed the MC to sensitize its own sanitation employees first, then aware others. After installation of cameras on ten most filthy areas of the city, the improvement has witnessed clearly on these spots but a mass awareness needed to be created among residents, he added.

Calling upon city residents, he said that it is our collective responsibility to make city clean, green and pollution-free. He exhorted the people to come forward and take charge of the cleanliness of their nearby areas by not throwing garbage in open and don’t let others do the same. He said that without the help and support of the residents of city, this campaign can never be successful.
