An Army jawan was found dead by his colleague at his official residence at 454 Field Hospital in West Marredpally, Secunderabad, on Tuesday evening.
The victim was identified as Sepoy Vilas Madhukar (24), an ambulance assistant at Indian Army and a native of Bhokavwadi village in Ambad mandal of Jalna in Maharashtra.
Karkhana police, who registered a suspicious death case, said that Vilas committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan.
“Around 7 p.m., Subedar Major S.M. Dasan, found Vilas dead, when he visited the latter’s house, as he did not turn up for duty,” police said. They broke open the door and recovered the body.
Vilas, who joined the Indian Army six years ago, was working at the Military Hospital for the past 15 months. He got married last year and is survived by his wife, parents and brother. The body was sent for autopsy and later handed over to his family.
