AMBALA: The Ambala police have made the second arrest in connection with the murder of Haryana police head constable Avtar Singh of village Panjokhra Sahib.
Avtar Singh had been bludgeoned to death on the night of April 12 outside Royal Restaurant in Baldev Nagar area of Ambala city.
The police said that the role of Narender of Tundli village in this murder case is providing the tip-off to accused Kamaljit about the movement of Avtar on April 12 night, following which the latter reached the spot with his accomplices and attacked Avtar.
Earlier on Sunday, the district police had arrested Kamaljit (22) of Tundli village and he is currently on his four-day police remand since Monday.
Ambala's deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Ajit Kumar said, “The accused Narender is the main perpetrator in this murder case as he had provided a tip-off about Avtar’s movement to accused Kamaljit. On Thursday, he was presented before the court which sent him to a one-day police remand with Baldev Nagar station team. The accused Kamaljit’s four-day remand would be completed on Friday, and both these accused would be presented before the court again. The police have recovered the rods and other sharp-edged weapons used in the crime during the custody of accused Kamaljit.”
