Ludhiana: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) continues to suffer jolts, as another senior leader of the party resigned from its primary membership on Wednesday.
The AAP’s state vice-president of Transport Wing Jaspal Talwandi sent in his resignation from various posts and primary membership to state party president Bhagwant Mann.
In his resignation, Jaspal alleged unhappiness over the distribution of tickets for Ludhiana and Fatehgarh Sahib Lok Sabha seats.
He added that for the Fatehgarh Sahib seat, the party gave a ticket to a candidate who came from outside (wife of Congress leader), instead of party volunteer Baljinder Singh, who was preparing for the elections for the past one month.
Talwandi said even on the Ludhiana seat, the party fielded a candidate who was from Raikot.
He added that because of a tussle between senior leaders, the party has suffered irreparable damage. The former AAP leader said they joined the party to bring out change, but that was not visible.
He added that the party belonged to volunteers and not parachute candidates.
When asked which party he was shifting to, he said he had not taken any decision yet.
Party sources said Talwandi was one of the contenders for the party’s ticket from Ludhiana, but was upset with the party’s decision to field former Tejpal Singh from the seat.
So far, District (Urban) president Daljeet Singh Grewal (Bhola), AAP’s state media team member Darshan Singh Shankar, and youth leader Amarinder Singh Jassowal have resigned from the party.
All the three leaders have joined Congress.
