Choosing a baby name can be difficult, but one mother has been left heartbroken after her family slammed the name she's chosen for her unborn child.
The mother in question posted in the online forum Netmums seeking advice from other parents after she was told her suggestion was a 'dog name'.
'Nobody likes the baby name we've chosen. Whenever I tell anyone they pull a face and say it's a dog's name,' she wrote.
'I'm trying to stick to what my partner and I like but it's so disheartening Can you just ignore negative opinions or should I be listening to them?'.
The name she has picked for her little one is Huxley.

The mum explained that while she and her husband had fallen in love with the name no one else they knew had.
Some commenters on the thread expressed their distaste for the name as well.
'It's the perfect name for a dog. Not a baby. In fact I might steal it for my puppy,' one person said.
'Huxley is the name of the villain from Elmo in Grouchland, when I hear the name, all I can think is crazy eyebrows lol. Hopefully your child will like it,' another said.
Despite this, the majority of people on the thread expressed their support for the moniker.

'As long as you and other half are happy that is all that matters. I like different, uncommon names, and he won't be one of five in the year with the same name!,' one supportive comment read.
Many others said the name was 'cute' and 'lovely'.
'I really like the name! And it's so easy saying who cares what others thinks, but eventually the negative opinions do really get you down,' one person said.
A variety of people who posted on the thread recommended not telling anyone the name before the birth.
'I had the same reaction when we said we were going to call our son Dexter. He's eight now and I'm so glad we stuck to our guns,' one person said.
'Ignore everyone else, if you love the name stick with it. Huxley is an amazing name!,' another said.
After taking on everyone's opinions the original poster revealed that she and her partner were going to stick with the name they had chosen.
'We spoke about it again last night and my partner is adamant it doesn't matter what other people think. We're going to keep Huxley as our name, it'll probably be a girl now anyway,' she said.
