3-day expo to promote voting begins in city

Hubballi: The Election Commission in association with the district administration and information department set up a special exhibition at the new bus stand to make people aware about the facilities provided for polling here on Thursday.
At the entrance of the bus stand various display boards with details of the cVIGIL app, facilities for women at exclusive polling stations, facilities for physically challenged, senior citizens and many more are put up here.
Deputy commissioner Deepa Cholan said the exhibition will be for three days from Thursday. “Our main focus is to attract more and more youths towards voting. Many activities have been done in this direction and we have reached maximum number of new voters,” she added.
“We have utilized the available resources and set up a special exhibition at the entrance of the new bus stand where specially designed and painted placards are displayed with various slogans and information to educate youths,” she said.
Manjunath Dollin, senior assistant director, information department said, “As the exhibition is at the entrance of new bus stand, hundreds of people mainly youths and girls are expected to see the exhibition.”
Ashwini Patil, a college student from Tarihal, said the exhibition provided useful information and added that such exhibitions must be organised in rural areas as well as in places where large number of people gather.
