Vadodara: The Congress party has accused Gujarat legislative assembly speaker Rajendra Trivedi of campaigning for the BJP in the city. Congress poll agent Shailesh Amin said that Rajendra Trivedi, who is also MLA from Raopura, had taken out a voter awareness rally in the city on April 14. Amin has complained about the rally to the election commission.
“But the rally seemed to be more about campaigning for the BJP than for voters awareness. Only BJP leaders and councillors were part of the rally that was taken out in Raopura area which is the constituency of Trivedi? Why did he choose only that area to do voters awareness rally? In fact, why did he do such rally in only Vadodara and not any other city?” questioned Amin.
“This shows that Trivedi wanted to influence voters and campaign for the BJP. How can the election officials give permission for such rally. And if the rally was organized without any permission then action should be taken under the election code of conduct,” Amin said. He also alleged that Trivedi sits at BJP’s election office in Raopura every night and guides the party workers.
