Bugatti has just released the first images of the Divo during testing before customer deliveries commence.
The French car manufacturer unveiled the Divo at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California last year. Despite featuring a fancy new name, the Divo isn’t an entirely new car; it is based on the Chiron, albeit with a plethora of new parts.
Like the Chiron, the Divo is powered by a quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 pumping out 1479 hp and 1180 lb-ft (1600 Nm) of torque. While the engine remains untouched, Bugatti has made a multiple of changes to the steering and suspension, while weight saving measures also mean it is 77 lbs (35 kg) lighter than the Chiron.
During a recent round of testing, Bugatti says the Divo has been pushed to speeds of 250 km/h (155 mph) in areas exceeding 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) with development engineer Julia Lemke behind the wheel. The vehicle pictured may be a prototype, but we think its all-black exterior finish makes it look even better than the black and blue Divo which was initially presented to the world.
Speaking of the exterior, it is dramatically different than the Chiron and is made up entirely of new body panels. The front is edgier, the sides look far more purposeful, and the rear features perhaps the craziest taillights of any modern production car.
Production of the Bugatti Divo is capped at 40 units, and all examples have been spoken for.
