Amid Lok Sabha elections, political parties are leaving no stone unturned to woo voters. In order to do so, the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has planned to organise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Mumbai, to counter that Congress’ Mumbai unit is trying hard to get Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to hold rallies.
According to DNA, the dates for Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s rallies are yet to be confirmed. The Congress’ Mumbai unit has already given the proposal to All India Congress Committee (AICC) for the road show of Priyanka Gandhi in Mumbai. Naseem Khan, vice president of Maharashtra Congress told the leading daily, “We have not yet received the final dates. We wish to have the road show of Priyanka Gandhi in all six Lok Sabha constituencies. She is currently tied up with her responsibility in Uttar Pradesh but we are confident to get her in Mumbai.”
The city unit of Congress has said that Priyanka’s roadshow will boost party cadre. Priyanka Gandhi had not yet campaigned outside of Uttar Pradesh except for their women wing party president Sushmita Sen in Assam.
A political observer told the leading daily, “Former Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam in Mumbai North West, Eknath Gaikwad Mumbai South Central and Urmila Matondkar in North Mumbai are trying hard to wrestle the seats from the sitting member of parliaments from the incumbent government. If Raj Thackeray rallies and Priyanka Gandhi road show happens in Mumbai in the last lap of the campaign, then these remaining three seats could come in Congress-NCP’s kitty.”
