Con call centre busted in Delhi

AHMEDABAD: The cyber cell of city police on Wednesday arrested four persons Sagar Sharma, Sonu Singh, Kanchan Chauhan of New Delhi and Suman Pil of Uttar Pradesh for con call centre Anil Joshi is still on the run. City cyber cell has recovered 22 cellphones and 13 registers with names and numbers of victims.
Assistant commissioner of police, cyber cell, Jeetendra Yadav said the accused used to optimize links in search engine results so that whenever someone types Pradhan Mantri Loan on a search engine their link came up first on search results.
“It is human tendency to click on the first link and Siddhrajsinh Dabhi, a resident of Asarwa fell into their net by clicking on their link,” said ACP Yadav. Cyber cell sources said Dabhi dialled on the number mentioned in the link. “The person on the other end was some Neha Sharma who posed as an official of a nationalized bank and took another supposed employee Payal Sharma in the conference call. They convinced Dabhi, took his various ID numbers and made him fill a form,” said a cyber cell source.
“They also made him pay a total of Rs 1,06,250 in different bank accounts and mailed him a fake letter of approval and acknowledgement letter with a fake signature,” said the source. Dabhi realized that he was cheated when the accused stop picking up his calls. “After technical analysis and obtaining the IP address of the device through which the accused had mailed or called, we picked up the accused from Delhi,” said ACP Yadav.
Inspector V B Barad of cyber cell said Anil Joshi, who is allegedly the kingpin of the con call centre made a phishing webpage by the name of “Brij Capital” under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana.
