NASHIK:With less than a fortnight to go for polls, the Nashik Regional Transport Office (RTO) is getting plenty of applications for advertising on vehicles.

Until Wednesday, the Nashik RTO has given permission of displaying advertisement on over 65 vehicles across the district - excluding the four talukas of Malegoan, Satana, Nandgaon and Deola that fall under the Malegaon RTO.

A senior police officer said they have been getting applications on a daily basis and they are also rejecting applications if the terms set forth by the RTO are not fulfilled.

"Our main aim is to check if the visibility of the driver was not hampered by the decoration of the advertisement related to the party or candidate," he said.

Another officer said that many a time vehicles are decorated to such an extent that it hampers the visibility of the driver which could lead to accident. "On this backdrop, we are checking the condition of the vehicle thoroughly before approving any application," he said, adding that it was also necessary that the tail lights were clearly visible while decorating the vehicle.
