GIM’s flagship mgmt course witnesses 100% placement

PANAJI: Goa Institute of Management (GIM) in Sakhali has seen all 235 students of the 2017-19 batch of its flagship two-year postgraduate diploma in management (PGDM) programme find placements in 62 companies this year.

The highest salary offered for an international placement was Rs 34 lakh per annum, while the biggest pay package offered for a job within the country was Rs 24.4 lakh per year.

The average salary to be offered for the batch stood at Rs 11.4 lakh annually, GIM officials said.

Students have been offered roles in diverse areas from research, analytics, finance, consulting and digital operations to human resources, quality, e-commerce, pharma, healthcare and media.

“The track record of placements and the diversity in the companies that visit GIM has placed the institute in the top league of B-Schools in India. GIM is now well-recognised across sectors as a source for high-quality talent,” director GIM Prof Ajit Parulekar, said.

GIM is among the premier B-Schools in India, which was placed in the top 50 management institutes in the country in the 2019 edition of the National Institutional Ranking Framework of the Union human resource development (HRD) ministry. With an overall score of 44.72, GIM scored very high on the parameters of graduation outcome (78.31), outreach and inclusivity (67.44), and teaching, learning and resources (61.06).

Officials said this year international players like Diageo and Enhance Group (Oman) also carried out recruitments at GIM.


Other frequent as well as first-time recruiters included Accenture, Barclays, Deloitte, Godrej & Boyce, Grant Thornton, HSBC, IBM, ITC, Mahindra & Mahindra, Nielsen India, Piramal, Vedanta, Wipro, Zee Media, Zomato and others.


The PGDM in healthcare management programme at GIM also saw 100% placements, for the fifth consecutive year since its inception.


The batch of 60 students of 2017-19 will join the industry, spanning areas of healthcare like pharmaceuticals to medical devices, healthcare IT and finance and public health.


The highest salary package offered for students from this programme was Rs 23 lakh annually, which is a 44% increase over last year. The average salary on offer was Rs 9.5 lakh a year.
