Unit XI of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch has arrested five people for allegedly running a betting racket out of a residential building in Charkop.

The accused, all in their 20s, were allegedly accepting bets on the recent Indian Premier League match between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab on Tuesday when their flat was raided.

“We have recovered ₹91,700 in cash from the accused, electronic equipment and a diary full of betting entries in code. Efforts are under way to trace their kingpin,” an officer said.
