Ujjain: Jain community members celebrated Mahavir Jayanti with fervour on Wednesday. On this occasion both sects of Jain community: Shwetambers and Digambers took out a religious procession jointly in early hours of morning in which huge numbers of women, men and children took part. The procession started from Jain Shwetamber temple located in Kharakuan area which passed through Namakmandi, Chhota Sarafa, Satigate and Naisadak area. Later in all the Jain temples Mahaveer Swami was worshipped by the community members.
Social organisations welcome procession The religious procession of Jains was welcomed by many social organisations at many places. The procession was welcomed at Naisadak by Congress leaders. On this occasion Sawan Yadav, Chetan Yadav, Congress candidate Babulal Malviya and other senior leaders were present. Muslim community members also welcomed the procession at Topkhana area under the leadership of Muzzafar Hussein. Sevadham Ashram also celebrated the festival of Mahaveer Jayanti at the Ashram by organising a yagna. Ashram inmates garlanded the portrait of Mahavir Swami. Founder Sudheer Bhai and other office bearers of the ashram exchanged wishes on this occasion.
Mahavir chintan parishad organises Navkar Jaap
Mahavir Chintan Parishad members organised the chanting of Navkar mantras at Mahaveer Kriti Stambh located at Fawwara chowk garden. President Shantikumar Kasliwal told that Congress leader Dr Batukshankar Joshi and other senior
leaders were present.
Shanti Dhara and special arti organised at Tapobhumi
Idol of Mahavir Swami was placed in cradle at Tapobhumi by devotees on the occasion of the festival of Mahaveer Jayanti. Spokesperson Sachin Kasliwal told that devotees organised Shanti Dhara and special arti of Mahavir Swami with great zeal and devotion. A religious procession was also organised by the community members from Tapobhumi.
BJP candidate accused of politicising religious fest
BJP candidate Anil Phiroziya drew flaks for placing electoral banners of his candidature along the route of the Jain community procession. District Congress Committee acting president Jitendra Goyal levelled allegation on Phiroziya for politicising the religious festival during the imposition of model code of conduct and demanded election commission to take strict action against him.
Ex-corporator booked for poll code violation
An FIR was registered under Section 188 of the IPC by Central Kotwali police against former BJP corporator Rekha Ojha for violating the Model Code Of Conduct on the complaint of commercial tax inspector Balmukund Parmar. In his complaint the inspector told that the corporator dangled a poster on government electricity poll without permission of the administration. The police started investigation.
