The partnership puts up the success of a previous MOU that was signed in September 2017 between STB and Alipay, a famous online and mobile payment platform operated by Ant Financial, a related company of Alibaba.

The new Memorandum of Understanding opens up fresh new chances to expand the collaborations of STB with other businesses in the Alibaba ecosystem. In the coming three years, STB will work with the main business units in the Alibaba ecosystem, like Alipay, Fliggy, Youku, Damai and Alibaba Cloud, to connect Chinese all through the entire consumer journey and get deeper understanding into their travelling behavior.

Both Alibaba and STB will also co-create winning content to aim young Chinese families and post-90s young professionals[1] in China and find out ways to expand range of in-destination experiences available to this market segment, by leveraging entertainment-related offerings of Alibaba. Besides, both organizations will explore co-creating and implementing digital solutions in joint venture with prime tourism establishments like retail stores, attractions and hotels to perk up customer satisfaction and support business innovation efforts.

“STB is always on the lookout for partnerships with great industry partners to improve visitor experiences in Singapore. The partnership with Alibaba is a game changer for Singapore. With a single partner like Alibaba, we will for the first time be able to engage with visitors at every step of the consumer journey, from pre-arrival to post-visit, through Alibaba’s platforms and technologies,” said Mr Keith Tan, STB’s Chief Executive.
