DGP R.P. Thakur on Wednesday reviewed the security measures at the strongrooms storing the EVMs on Krishna University campus.
This was in the wake of shifting of reserve election equipment from the strongrooms on April 14.
Mr. Thakur inspected the District Police Office and later interacted with Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Eluru) Trivikram Varma and Krishna SP Sarvasresth Tripathy. However, he did not visit the strongrooms on the campus.
Later, Mr. Varma visited the campus at Rudravaram where the EVMs for the nine Assembly and two Lok Sabha segments (Machilipatnam and Eluru) were kept.
An official release from Krishna SP office said that Mr. Varma reviewed the existing security layers at the each stage .
“Krishna University campus is under CC camera surveillance, which keep a tab on the strongrooms up to 100 metres. A team of A.P. Special Police is also deployed to guard the EVMs,” said Mr. Varma.
Meanwhile, Mr. Thakur visited Manginapudi beach before leaving for Vijayawada city.
