Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav will file his nomination papers from Azamgarh parliamentary seat today. Mulayam Singh Yadav, Samajwadi Party patriarch, currently represent Azamgarh seat. BJP has fielded Bhojpuri singer and actor Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua against Akhilesh Yadav from the constituency. BJP leader Ramakant Yadav, who won the Azamgarh parliamentary seat in 2009, has quit BJP and joined the Congress party. Akhilesh Yadav was the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh from 2012 to 2017. The SP leader first elected to the 13th Lok Sabha from Kannauj in a by-election in 2000. Later, he also won the 14th Lok Sabha in 2004 and the 15th Lok Sabha for a third term in 2009. He was appointed as leader of the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh and became the youngest Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in 2012.
