Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Segment Best; Beats Competition 3rd Year In A Row

Maruti Suzuki recently announced that its highly popular Ciaz sedan has occupied the the top-spot for a maximum sales for the third year running. Beating its nearest rivals, the Honda City and Hyundai Verna, the company claimed that Maruti Ciaz last year (2018 -19) achieved a mark of 30 percent market share while the overall units sold stood at 46,000. Further the company claims that it has sold more than 2.56 lakh units of Maruti Ciaz since the sedan was introduces back in 2014.

“Ciaz has witnessed a resounding success in the highly competitive premium sedan segment. With a staggering 30% market share in 2018-19, Ciaz has been a preferred choice for the aspirational and evolving consumers who have a drive to excel. It is a testimony of them liking new technologies and features offered by us and we are thankful to our customers for their confidence and choice that reinforces our commitment to bring newer, advanced and greener technologies in India”, commented R.S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India.

According to the company, it is the top-end variant that contributes to 48 percent of total sales while the signature Nexa Blue on Maruti Ciaz comes in next with 31 percent in number.

This apart, it was only a couple of days ago that the home grown automaker announced the arrival of an all-new diesel engine in the Ciaz. Replacing the old 1.3 litre Fiat sourced Multi-Jet diesel engine, Maruti Ciaz diesel now has a 1.5 litre diesel engine developed in-house that produces 94 bhp and 225 Nm of peak torque. Last year the company had brought in a new 1.5 litre petrol unit that offered a new-generation Hybrid System.
