This year’s Shanghai Auto Show seems to be all about electrified vehicles of all shapes and sizes. Changan’s CS75 Plus is one of the few exceptions, as it’s powered by good old internal combustion engines.

It seems Changan is quite into sporty crossovers lately, having unveiled the CS85 Coupe just a few months ago, which shares the same engine range as the CS75 Plus – specifically 1.5 TGDI and 2.0 TGDI turbocharged gasoline four-cylinders.

The 1.5 turbo puts down 178 HP and 265 Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque and is coupled to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while the more powerful 2.0 turbo is good for 233 HP and 360 Nm (260 lb-ft) of torque, corralled through an 8-speed automatic. It’s not a lot of power, but the 2.0-liter unit should provide the CS75 Plus with enough grunt so as to deliver more than decent performance.

At least you could argue that the CS75 Plus looks the part, with contrasting exterior inserts, intricately-styled alloy wheels, a quad-exhaust design, chiseled hood and massive grille. We also like the headlight graphics, which extend all the way across the front fascia. The interior looks relatively well put together with what appear to be soft-touch surfaces spread throughout the cabin. Also, while it may seem like it at first, that giant infotainment screen is actually two separate displays angled towards the driver.

As for its dimensions, it measures 4,700 mm (15.4 ft) in length, is 1,865 mm (6.11 ft) wide, stands 1,700 mm (5.57 ft) tall and has a 2,710 mm-long (8.89 ft) wheelbase, which puts it somewhere between a VW Tiguan and a BMW X3 in size, being bigger than the former but smaller than the latter.

According to PCauto, the Chinese brand will look to sell this crossover to a younger crowd, which should work seen as how it looks a great deal more modern and dynamic than the CS55 or the regular CS75.
