Reasonably priced flights to boost up Exmouth tourism

Qantas, in joint venture with the State Government, will trial these affordable flights first over the peak travel season, starting from June 7th onward.

The $169 one-way fares will be applicable for flights from Friday to Monday booked 45 days prior to the travel plan, offering a saving of about $180 for a return trip.

Shire of Exmouth chief executive Cameron Woods explained that the coastal town was the jewel in the crown of WA tourism.

“Iconic imagery from the Ningaloo is regularly featured in Tourism WA and Tourism Australia promotions,” he said.

“This trial makes bucket-list experiences, including swimming with whale sharks and humpback whales, more accessible for local, interstate and international visitors.”

Tourism Minister Paul Papalia explained that the Qantas deal would make Exmouth and the Ningaloo Reef more accessible.

“The region is home to two World Heritage-listed areas, one of the world’s only beaches made entirely of shells and, of course, the biggest fringing reef on the planet at Ningaloo,” he said.

“The Qantas initiative will make it more attractive for holidaymakers to discover all of these treasures.”

Also, Mr. Woods is quite hopeful that increased visitation could encourage more investment in the town through an increase in demand for variety of accommodation types.

“It will encourage private investment to meet the demand and stimulate the economy through the construction of additional accommodation followed by an increase in employment to service accommodation and the hospitality sector,” he said.

The flight tickets are available to book online or though a travel agent, and if the trial remains fruitful, the State Government and Qantas will expand it.
