AHMEDABAD: A 50-year-old woman on Tuesday filed a complaint with Vastrapur police, stating that she was assaulted by two women and five men for treating some injured puppies in a temple compound at Mansi Crossroads on Friday.
Anuradha Singhvi, a resident of Management Enclave in Vastrapur, runs an NGO that works with animals. She said that she had last week gone to the temple after learning that some puppies there were injured and needed medial aid.

As she learned that the puppies had been injured by a security guard, she asked him about it.

He told her he had beaten the puppies because they 'pollute' the temple compound.

On Friday, when Singhvi and her daughter went to the temple to see the puppies, two men with sticks ran towards her daughter. Singhvi and persons from the temple had a heated argument and the two women, the sister and mother of the temple priest, started arguing with her, the FIR states.

"The two women and an unknown man started assaulting her. As Singhvi's daughter started filming the incident on her mobile phone, these persons tried to snatch the mobile phone. Her daughter managed to escape. Meanwhile, the other persons held Singhvi and started thrashing her," the FIR states.
