Peace meet resolves to restore normalcy in Ramgarh village
Ramgarh: Three days after the clash and stone pelting incident during Ram Navami procession at Sikni village in Dulmi block here, the district administration on Tuesday convened an emergency peace committee meeting to restore normalcy in the area.
During the violence, around eight people, including a few government officials, had sustained injuries, prompting the administration to clamp prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC.

On Monday, around 40 people were named in an FIR filed by the administration and 20 of them were sent to jail.

Local residents claimed that on Tuesday morning too, a mob pelted stones at the government school in Sikni but no major untoward incident was reported. Later in the evening, the administration convened an emergency peace meeting to restore normalcy. The meeting was conducted at Rajrappa police station and was presided by Ramgarh sub-divisional officer, Anant Kumar. It was attended by panchayat representatives of Dulmi and Chitarpur blocks of the district.

Kumar said, “Villagers of both groups also attended the peace committee meeting and promised to restore peace and live together with harmony.”

He added, “We shall take a call on removal of the prohibitory orders after evaluating the situation.”

Normalcy has also returned to Hurhuri village under Ratu police station on Ranchi outskirts after clashes broke out between two communities during a Ram Navami procession.

Police had arrested 14 people from Hurhuri and neighbouring villages on Monday. Around 100 others have been booked under CrPC Section 107.

Ranchi (rural) SP Ashutosh Shekhar had been camping in the area since Sunday and later conducted a peace committee meeting among the community members so that their differences are sorted out.
