Three Rohingyas were arrested in Bahadurpura for allegedly illegally procuring Aadhaar cards, voter IDs besides PAN by making a false representation that they are Indian nationals, police said Wednesday. The three Rohingyas identified as Mohd Ibrahim, Noor ul Ameen and Shaik Azhar, who are from Buthidaung town of Myanmar's Rakhine state entered India four to 11 years ago, from Bangladesh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Commissioners Task Force) S Chaitanya Kumar said.

The trio, working as masons and electricians here, impersonated as Indians and secured Voter ID and ration cards besides Aadhaar and other ID proof, he said.

They had also applied for Indian Passports and were found to be claiming all welfare schemes introduced by the government, Kumar said in a release.

Explaining their modus operandi, the senior police official said the trio initially obtained voter cards and driving licences by submitting the electrical bill of some local house owner.

After obtaining voter cards, they used to apply for Aadhaar,PAN,ration cards, and other ID proof.

"Finally, they apply for passport to legalise themselves in India as Indian citizens," he said.

"All through the process, they impersonate as Indians by suppressing their personal details and nationality and claiming the welfare schemes introduced by government for poor Indians," the official said.

Hyderabad is home to an estimated 3,500-4,000 Rohingyas, who stay in camps in different parts of the city.
