Police personnel cast their votes through postal ballots

Vadodara: Around 6,000 policemen and affiliated personnel who will be busy with poll-bound duties on April 23 cast their votes through postal ballots at headquarters of city and rural police on Wednesday.
A minor argument took place between the home guard personnel and policemen at rural police headquarters at Chhani when the police personnel allegedly pushed them. The home guard personnel alleged that some of the policemen were pushing them and not allowing them to vote. They said that they had taken leave from work to come to Vadodara city for casting their votes. Later, on intervention from polling officers, the issue was resolved.
According to officials, 5,901voters were registered to cast their votes through postal ballots on Wednesday. The voters included personnel of city and rural police force, gram rakshak dal, home guards, GUVNL police, state reserve police and drivers of GSRTC. The voting facilitation centres were established as these personnel will be involved in providing security around the polling stations and other facilities of election machinery since the eve of voting day.
