A major road on the Welsh border has been closed following a crash between a motorbike and combine harvester.

Long delays are building on the A550 Welsh Road in Two Mills, Cheshire, following a crash at around 2.30pm today.

Queues are stretching back into Deeside as a result of the crash.

Traffic is also being impacted on the A494.

Traffic analysts Inrix have said that a motorbike and combine harvester are involved.

On Twitter, Neston and Parkgate Police said: "Please avoid the two mills area there has been an accident and road closures will be in place at the A550 from its junction with the A540 going towards Wales."

Police statement

Cheshire Police have just released the following information.

A spokesman said:

Shortly after 2pm officers were called to reports of a collision at Two Mills traffic lights near Ellesmere Port.

“The collision involved a motorcycle and a combine harvester.

“There are no reports of any serious injuries. However, a road closure is currently in place while officers deal with the incident.”

Road expected to re-open

It is expected that it will not be too long before the road is back open to traffic.

Injuries 'not as bad as previously thought'

According to CheshireLive, the injuries in the collision do not appear to be as bad as initially thought after the crash took place.

Emergency services are still on the scene at the moment.
