15.29 lakh voters to exercise their franchise in Tirupur

Tirupur: With 12 candidates, including three from recognised parties and two from registered parties, contesting, Tirupur parliamentary constituency will elect a member for the third time.
The constituency, which constitutes of Tirupur north, Tirupur south, Gobichettipalayam, Anthiyur, Perundurai and Bhavani assembly constituencies, has 1,704 polling booths. A total of 15,29836 voters - 762935 men, 766765 women and 136 transpeople - will be eligible to vote.
Constituency returning officer KS Palanisamy inspected the distribution of EVMs and other equipment to 148 zones in the constituency. A total of 301 of the 1,704 polling booths have been declared vulnerable.
