Raju (35) was attacked with sharp-edged weapons when he had gone to collect Mahua flowers from the forest near his village Wednesday morning, an said.

The area falls under station limits, around 450 km from Raipur.

A native of Bodli village, Gode, posted in Bijpaur, had been suspended for remaining absent from duty for the last four-five months, the said.
