Special prayers mark Mahavir Jayanti

DHARWAD: Processions, prayers and mass feeding marked the birth anniversary of Bhagavan Mahavir here on Wednesday.
Hundreds of devotees participated in a procession of Mahavir's portrait from Adinath Digambar Jain Mandir in Hosayallapur.
Special prayers and religious ceremonies were organized at Jain Basadis in Ravivar Peth, Hosayallapur and Subhas Road. This year being the centenary of Shantisagar Maharaj’s birth anniversary, devotees carried his portrait too.
Shantilal Bhandari, Mohan Oswal, Hemaraj Bhandari, Lalit Bhandari, Pushpa Bhandari and others took part.
Deputy commissioner Deepa Cholan, additional DC Suresh Itnal, Mahaveer Upadhye and others garlanded the portrait of Mahavir at the deputy commissioner’s office.
Several Jain organisitions took out a procession of Bhagavan Mahavir’s portrait through important roads in Hubballi to mark the day.
