Not a single farmer in the country will be arrested for default of agriculture loan if the Congress is voted to power at the Centre, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has said.
“There should not be two Indias and unfair practices against the citizens. If ₹35,000 crore can be given to Ambani, why cannot the same amount be given as education loan to the youngsters, farmers, fishermen, and others who are struggling after the demonetisation and rollout of GST? All should be treated as equals,” Mr. Gandhi said while addressing a public meeting at the Central Stadium here in support of Congress candidates Shashi Tharoor and Adoor Prakash.
The complex Goods and Service Tax (GST) that had done grave injustice to the poor would be replaced with ‘one tax’. Nyay Yojana and remonetisation of the economy would come to the aid of the farmers. Technology would be used to help farmers link to the markets and loans would be made available for the small and medium entrepreneurs, the Congress president said.
The task of starting a new business in the country would be further eased with no permission required for the initial three years. A separate Ministry for Fisheries to address the unique problems faced by the fisherfolk would be set up, Mr. Gandhi said, terming these decisions as ‘wisdom of the people’.
Like engine oil
Stating that remonetising the economy was the best way to fight against unemployment and economic crisis, Mr. Gandhi said Nyay Yojana would be like putting engine oil into economy.
He announced that it would fill the 22 lakh vacant posts in one year if voted to power and promised 10 lakh jobs to the youngsters in panchayats. Remonetising the economy would create new jobs. Launching a scathing attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Rafale deal, Mr. Gandhi said his party wanted India run by the voice of the people.
