2019 Renault EZ-FLEX Will Test Last-Mile Delivery In Urban Environments

Renault has turned the EZ-Pro Concept into the EZ-FLEX, a more production-ready version of the car, which will be on display at the VIVA Technology fair in France, between May 16 and 18.

The EZ-FLEX focuses on the future of urban mobility – or, more accurately, urban delivery – and the automaker will lend a dozen units to different companies, professionals, cities and municipalities across Europe.

The experiment should last about 2 years and, during this time, the on-board sensors will transmit different data, such as geolocation, mileage, speed, stops, range, use of cargo opening and others. This information, which will be sent either daily or in real time, will help Renault understand the reality of daily urban use.

At 3.86 meters (152 in) long, 1.65 meters (65 in) wide and 1.88 meters (74 in) tall, the EZ-FLEX has a 3 square-meter (32.3 sq-ft) load capacity and a 4.5-meter (177.2 in) turning circle. This makes it suitable for congested cities, while its electric powertrain will allow it to access city centers. The vehicle has a range of 100 km (62 miles), or about double the distance traveled each day by the average urban delivery driver.

The driver-focused interior is easily accessible through the wide-opening doors. The cabin features a large windscreen and a glass roof, as well as a central display mounted on top of the dashboard that provides access to the usual driving information.

The cargo area has been designed to support different configurations and can be adapted to meet the different needs of professionals.
