Hazaribag: Bhubneshwar Prasad Mehta, CPI’s candidate for the Hazaribag Lok Sabha seat and the party’s state general secretary, on Tuesday filed his nomination before district election officer Ravi Shankar Shukla.

Mehta was accompanied by CPI national secretary Ramendra Kumar, CPM state secretary G K Bakshi and others.

During the filing process, Kumar asked Shukla how saffron flags are put up everywhere right from government buildings to trees and poles in the entire district. “These flags symbolise RSS, which in return is the the mentor of BJP. Isn’t it a violation of the model code of conduct? It’s a serious lapse. How can no action be taken yet?” asked Kumar. Shukla asked them to submit a written complaint after which they will look into the matter.

Addressing a rally at Keshav Hall ground after filing his nomination, Mehta criticised BJP’s outgoing MP Jayant Sinha. He also accused Congress of deliberately keeping the Left parties out of the mahagathbandhan in Jharkhand.
