Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration Arvind Kumar on Tuesday asked GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore to immediately get all pubs and restaurants in city inspected and ensure they provide the required parking space as specified in the building rules.

He further warned that in case of their failure to comply with the requirements, action should be initiated against them, which may include closure of such establishments.

Mr. Arvind Kumar observed that a lot of complaints were being received by the government saying that a large number of pubs and restaurants in the city were being run without providing any required parking space. As a result, a large number of vehicles were being parked on the roads and sub-roads thereby causing great inconvenience to the general public and the nearby residents.

There were serious objections that some eateries have encroached upon road margins and footpaths. He directed the Commissioner to take immediate action and furnish ATR to the government within a fortnight.
