Wijnaldum Praise

Dirk Kuyt has hailed Gini Wijnaldum’s attitude after the midfielder was dropped for clashes with Porto and Chelsea recently.

Wijnaldum has been a key part of Liverpool’s push for the title but has seen himself out of the starting XI recently.

“What I also like is the fantastic mentality of Wijnaldum,” Kuyt said in his column for De Telegraaf. “Before the kick-off I saw his eyes.

“You felt the disappointment that he was not playing, but when you see how professional he was before, during and after the game, you get more admiration for him. That’s how you should be a pro.

“The final sprint becomes so important. Yet Gini deals with that in a great way. He falls in, he does his work and celebrates with his fellow players as it should be. A real team player. ”

Brandt News

A lot of you were interested in this last night.

My colleague Rowan Atkinson Theo Squires reported that Liverpool are prepared to meet Julian Brandt’s €25 million (£21.5 million) release clause this summer, although they will face competition from Real Madrid and Juventus for his signature report Bild.

Leverkusen are in danger of failing to qualify for the Champions League, finding themselves seven points behind fourth place, with the 22-year-old’s release clause coming into effect if they miss out.

The Reds were famously in for the German before opting for Mohamed Salah back in 2017.

Win Them All

Having successfully negotiated three points against both Tottenham and Chelsea, Liverpool are 5/4 with Betway to win their remaining four Premier League fixtures.

Jurgen Klopp’s side sit two points clear at the top of the table, but even if they win their remaining matches, it might not be enough with Manchester City having a game in hand.

With tricky-looking fixtures against Tottenham and Manchester United to come, City are 2/1 to win their last five matches and retain the Premier League.

Betway’s Alan Alger said: “Tottenham and Chelsea looked the major stumbling blocks for Liverpool, but the Reds have come through both with maximum points and continue to set the pace at the top of the Premier League.

“Despite their final four games appearing easier on paper, every match will feel like a cup final now and we make it 5/4 that they’ll win all of them. Four victories would give them 97 points which incredibly might not be enough to win it, with City having a game in hand on Jurgen Klopp’s team.

“That game is against their city rivals United and they also have Tottenham at the Etihad next, so we are now 2/1 for Pep’s men to retain the title in style by winning all five of their remaining matches.”

Coutinho Linked

Chelsea are ready to sign Philippe Coutinho if their transfer ban is lifted this summer according to Spanish outlet Sport.

Coutinho’s future has been at the centre of constant speculation since the beginning of this season.

Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the former Liverpool star but Chelsea reportedly see him as a replacement for Eden Hazard.

Tiger's On

Andy Robertson has admitted Liverpool watched the Masters over Manchester City’s clash with Crystal Palace at the weekend.

City faced the Eagles before Robertson and co. took on Chelsea at Anfield with both sides landing big victories.

“We had the golf on. I wanted Tiger to win it,” the Scotland captain said.

“I was watching it with James Milner in the treatment room. I’m sure some of the lads were aware of the City score but it wasn’t something we spoke about.

“We didn’t know the City result beforehand but because we hadn’t heard anything we just guessed they had won.

“This is the first time a lot of us have found ourselves in a position like this and you have to enjoy experiences like this.

“I think we’re all enjoying it. You saw that with our performance against Chelsea.

“Hopefully, we’ll be celebrating come the end. But we know there’s a lot of hard work still to be done.”

Griezmann Rates Robertson

Antoine Griezmann shared his Football Manager team with the world last night - and it will have caught the eye of Liverpudlians.

The French World Cup winner has completely transformed Arsenal with just one of their current squad members, Alexandre Lacazette, making the first-team.

Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson features on Griezmann’s bench while Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is number one.

Reported Reds target Matthijs de Ligt also features at centre-back for the Gunners.

Hands off, Antoine!

Porto Latest

Porto will welcome back midfielder Jesus Corona for Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second-leg against Liverpool according to Record via Sport Witness.

Corona picked up an ankle injury at the weekend but it is believed he will be fit enough for the crucial clash.

The Portuguese giants will also welcome defenders Pepe and Hector Herrera back from suspension.

Former Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal also gave his predictions ahead of the tie.

“FC Porto will have to make a perfect performance and it includes scoring goals, and I believe FC Porto will score, but not suffer,” he said.

“Liverpool normally score and feel very comfortable with teams that get unbalanced.”

Alisson Title Prediction

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson reckons the Premier League title race will go down to the final game of the season.

The Reds are currently top of the Premier League but Manchester City are two points behind with a game in hand.

Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions do, however, face tough clashes with Tottenham and Manchester United in the coming weeks.

“This game was very important,” Alisson said via Sport Witness after the victory over Chelsea on Sunday.

“Even to give confidence for the rest of the games. Now more than ever, we have to think step by step, game by game. The league will probably be decided in the last round.

“I think Manchester City have been doing an extraordinary campaign, just like us. And we have to stay focused.

“A victory today was very important, but that’s not all. We have to have the same mindset for the next games. And try to get as many wins, as many points as we can.”
