KOLHAPUR: Senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal took a potshot at the Shiv Sena on Monday claiming that the party had stabbed the farmers by allying with the BJP.
Bhujbal was addressing a rally at Jaisingpur to show his support for Raju Shetti, the leader of Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghtana (SSS), who is contesting for the third time from Hatkanangale. Shetti will lock horns with Sena’s Dhairyashil Mane, in whose support Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray will soon hold a public rally at Hatkanangale.
Bhujbal said the Sena, which is sharing power with the BJP, has always criticised the BJP for its anti-farmer policies. “He (Thackeray) has earlier said that the BJP government is shameless, a robber and anti-national. He had said that the loan waiver scheme is a mega-scam. The Sena is equally responsible for this mega-scam. It is the Sena that has backstabbed farmers,” said Bhujbal.
The senior leader lauded Shetti for his efforts to help the farmers get a fair price for their produce.
