Supreme Court rejects Mayawati’s plea against EC’s ban over hate speech

Mayawati had been barred from campaigning for 48 hours by the Election Commission over an alleged hate speech delivered by her during an election rally.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to consider Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati’s plea against the 48-hour ban on campaigning imposed by the Election Commission.

Mayawati had been barred from campaigning for 48 hours by the Election Commission over an alleged hate speech delivered by her during an election campaign rally. Apart from her, the Election Commission has also barred Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Union minister Maneka Gandhi and Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan.
