In a shocking incident, a 46-year-old scrap dealer was arrested by Kandivli police for allegedly killing his wife after he suspected her of having an affair. The accused, after killing his wife, called the police control room early on Monday morning to surrender.
According to Mid-Day, the accused was identified as Mohammed Raquib Khan, a resident of Gandhi Nagar, Khan Gali. The incident took place after he and his wife, Ajmatunnisa (40) got into an argument when Khan demanded to know the name of the man she was allegedly having an affair with. Ajmatunnisa told him that she was innocent, but Khan punched her and kicked her as well. After this, Ajmatunnisa started screaming. He pressed her mouth as she started calling for help and strangulated her.
During the incident, the couple’s six daughters and his sister-in-law were asleep in the house. Khan, after strangulating Ajmatunnisa, called the police control room to report his crime. The others in the house only woke up after police arrived and took him into custody. Khan’s brother was at the shop when the incident took place.
Initially, the brothers ran a business in Nagpur but shifted to Mumbai over the same suspicion. Khan doubted that his wife had an illicit relation with a scrap dealer from his neighbouring shop. The cops have arrested Khan under section 320 (grievous hurt) of the IPC.
