Guar seed futures fall on weak demand

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

seed prices fell by Rs 86 to Rs 4,371 per 10 in futures trade Tuesday amid offloading of exposure by investors, in sync with a weak trend at the physical markets.

On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, seed contracts for delivery in May moved down by Rs 86, or 1.93 per cent, to Rs 4,371 per 10 with an open interest of 1,20,070 lots.

Similarly, the rates for June contracts fell Rs 81, or 1.79 per cent, to Rs 4,433 per 10 with an open interest of 13,220 lots.

Marketmen said cutting down of positions by participants, following a weak trend at the spot markets due to soaring stocks against muted demand from gum makers, led to the fall in guar seed futures.
