AAP national spokesperson and the party’s South Delhi Lok Sabha candidate Raghav Chadha said on Monday that he has written to the Election Commission for an inquiry into the “unlawfully discarded voter ID cards” that the party had found.
He alleged that more than 200 voter ID cards were found lying in garbage dump only a few hundred metres away from Badarpur MLA’s office on Sunday.
Mr. Chadha said this exposed the nexus between the BJP, the Booth-Level Officers (BLOs) and officers of the Postal Department as they work in tandem to ensure that voter IDs of those registered though AAP registration camps are not received by them.
He said the BJP had engineered a massive voter deletion fraud in Delhi under which over 30 lakh voters’ names have been illegally and undemocratically deleted from Delhi’s electoral roll at the behest of the BJP.
“The EC initially remained a mute spectator as BJP engineered a massive voter deletion fraud in Delhi. Now when Arvind Kejriwal ensured that votes of those people whose names were deleted are restored; the BJP is colluding with BLOs and preventing these voter ID cards from reaching the voters by abandoning them, burying them or destroying them. Today we present these voter ID cards in front you,” he said.
Mr. Chadha also said that they have received news from Deoli and Chattarpur that BLOs and postal workers have left the voter ID cards in offices of local BJP leaders and they were calling people and inviting them over and claiming that they had got their voter ID cards prepared.
Report card on MP
The AAP on Monday also released a report card of works done by BJP West Delhi Lok Sabha MP Parvesh Verma in the last five years and attacked him for his alleged non-performance and violence in Mayapuri, which falls under his constituency.
The violence happened on Saturday when officials went to close down establishments following an NGT order. Addressing a press conference on Monday, AAP senior leader Gopal Rai said that the NGT had earlier told the DDA that the latter had to give alternative sites for the establishments in Mayapuri, but it was not done and the MP did not do anything about it.
“Apart from lying to the media, he never went to the Minister concerned for land for the trades in Mayapuri, which fall under his area,” Mr. Rai said.
The AAP leader also said that till January 2019, the MP had not spent ₹2.65 crore from his MPLAD funds. “He does not even have the courage to talk a word. He might be worried that he would not get a ticket next time if he does so,” Mr. Rai said.
Mr. Rai said that though large parts of the West Delhi Lok Sabha constituency are villages, the MP has spent less time in villages and more time in foreign countries during his tenure.
“He had adopted Jharoda Kalan, a village in Najafgarh area, but he is not even ashamed of the bad state of the village. He could not even turn one village into an ideal one. He never talked for farmers or implementation of the Swaminathan Committee report,” Mr. Rai said.
The AAP leader said that the MP had promised to open west campus of Delhi University, but did not even try for it. “Either [Narendra] Modi stopped these 7 MPs to do work or they did not want to do it. If they wanted to do work, why could they not do it despite having BJP at the Centre?” he asked.
