KURUKSHETRA: The Kurukshetra police have registered a case of rash driving and causing death by negligence after a five-year-old boy, identified as Akshbir of Barwa village in Haryana's Kurukshetra district, died in a road accident when he was heading to his school in the morning in his school van.
As per the FIR, Karambir Singh complained to police, “My son Akshbir studies in LKG at Som Convent Gurukul School, Kurukshetra. A school van Tata Winger (HR65-6891) was hired for my son’s travel to the school and home and the school administration had not deployed any helper on this van. The driver of this van was Nafe Singh of Pidarsi village against whom the children often complained that he used to drive the van rashly. I had also intimated about the same to the school management. On April 16 at around 7am, my wife had dropped Akshbir to the van and asked the driver about the absence of any helper in the van as my son was sitting alone in the vehicle. My wife had also warned him about driving safely. After some time, we received the information that my son has received injuries due to the accident of the van in which he was traveling. We contacted the school management and Akshbir was admitted to the Aanand Hospital, Kurukshetra. When we reached the hospital, the doctors declared him dead in front of us. The accident happened due to the negligence and rash driving of driver Nafe Singh, as he had taken a sharp turn at high speed due to which my son got lifted from his seat and his head got rammed into the extra tire rim which was placed inside the vehicle. We had informed about this driver and absence of helper to the school management but they did not take it seriously.”
After receiving this complaint, a case has been registered against the accused under Section 120-B, 279, and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code.
Inspector Balwan Singh SHO Kurukshetra University police station said, “We have sent a team to arrest the accused Nafe Singh.”
