Ludhiana: “People of Punjab will totally reject the Aam Admi Party (AAP) in these elections, and the party’s base will be finished forever from the state,” said Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, the Congress candidate from Ludhiana, on Monday.
Bittu was addressing mediapersons on the occasion of AAP’s Ludhiana youth president Amrinder Singh Jassowal joining the party. Lashing out further against AAP, Bittu said: “AAP has lost its ground in Punjab, and that’s why senior leaders like Jassowal are leaving the party. Already, the bluff of this party has been called off in Punjab, which was started with lies and misguiding the public. Along with dismissing AAP’s divisive policies, people of Punjab have also made it clear that leaders like Bhagwant Mann and others cannot befool them further.
Bittu further added: “Whether it is Ludhiana or any other parliamentary constituency, AAP candidates will lose their deposits this time, and this is the writing on the wall. However, the situation is worse for them in Ludhiana, where not even a single prominent face of the party is with them, as all have left and the one or two remaining are about to exit as well.”
Bittu also lashed out against Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) MLA Simarjit Singh Bains, and said: “The career of Bains brothers too is about to end after these elections, and they have already got the hint of this after all their close confidants have bid them goodbye one by one. Rattled by this fact, Simarjit is left with nothing except filing false and baseless complaints against our party with the Election Commission,” he added.
Meanwhile, welcoming Jassowal, Bittu said: “The late Jasdev Singh Jassowal, grandfather of Amrinder Jassowal, was known as the pillar of Punjabi culture. He was known to my grandfather late Beant Singh, and today, with the induction of Amrinder into the Congress party, we both grandsons have reciprocated the relationship, which was once between our grandfathers.”
Bittu also held meetings in different wards of the city on Monday, and other Congress leaders present on the occasion included MLA Surinder Dawar, District Congress Committee president Ashwani Sharma, Mukesh Verma, Aman Bagga, Kulwinder Singh Virk, Rajiv Kumar Daavar, Amarjit Singh Oberoi, and Pritam Singh.
