After two weeks of intense campaign by political parties for the Lok Sabha elections braving the scorching sun, the curtains came down on Tuesday evening as the stage is now set for polling scheduled for April 18.

As many as 20 candidates, including 13 independents, are in the fray for the Erode Lok Sabha constituency with two-cornered contest between A. Ganeshamurthi of MDMK who is contesting in DMK’s “Rising Sun” symbol and G. Manimaran of AIADMK.

Most of the cadre were seen plying in two-wheelers entering nook and corner of the streets seeking support for their party candidate.

In Krishnagiri, party flags of varied hues fluttered as cadre zoomed past the narrow roads of Krishangiri town scrambling through the last hour of the campaign time, before the model code of conduct came to an end.

The two main candidates A. Chellakumar of the Congress and K.P. Munusamy of the AIADMK campaigned near the roundana near Krishnagiri market for one last time.

The zest of the last minute campaign was visible largely from the PMK youth, waving life size party flags.
