There is good news to report this afternoon on the family who went missing in butte county.

They were found next to this tree& about three miles up powelton road several miles above stirling city.

A good samaritan found michael mercado and his two sons& who had been missing since sunday& they had gone to the woods in their new jeep& when the kids wanted to play in the snow.

That's when they got lost.

The man who found them& a local from paradise..

Started searching around midnight& his name is 'phillip harvey'..

And he says it could have happened to anyone.

"if he wasn't a good dad, i mean i wouldn't have found them if he wasn't.

Yu know he lost track of his car, his kids wanted to play in the snow, but after that he did good, he followed the flume until he got to a road.

He followed that road and when i found him they were just a few feet off the road there behind pine st.

They were just huddled up.

You know no matter who you are you can get lost in the woods."

Harvey's wife was in contact with mercado's wife.
