A six-year-old child fell into an open drain here on Monday afternoon following which a search operation was launched to rescue him, the police said.
The incident took place when a group of children were crossing over the drain near Salarpur village and one of them accidentally fell into it. “A call was received around 4 p.m. and rescue efforts were launched, but the child has not been tracked yet,” Circle Officer, Noida III, Vimal Kumar Singh said.
“The sludge and other pollutants in the drain are impacting operation,” said an officer. A unit of the National Disaster Response Force has joined the search. The operation was suspended around 9 p.m.
The search will resume on Tuesday.
