NEW DELHI: Actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar was extended police protection on Monday following an alleged altercation between Congress workers and a group of BJP supporters outside Borivali station in Mumbai.
Following the incident, Matondkar wrote to the police seeking protection. Matondkar, Congress’ Mumbai North candidate, was meeting people in her constituency at around 11am when “a few men started shouting slogans of ‘Modi, Modi’, which led to an altercation between Congress workers and the men who were raising slogans”, police said. In her application, Matondkar claimed the sloganeers belonged to BJP and were “creating fear”. BJP has refuted Matondkar’s allegations.
