Parts of Australia will shiver through the Easter weekend as a cold front moves in bringing wind and rain.

Temperatures in the Victorian Alps will sink to 3C on Friday morning and drop as low as 10C in Melbourne on Saturday before Easter Sunday will be hot and sunny.

Sydney will stay mild with a low of 17C and high of 25C over the weekend - with no rain forecast except for a small shower on Friday.

Perth will endure a low of 6C on Easter Sunday as a cold front moves in, rising to a high of 21C.

The front will bring up to 24mm of rain to some parts of the city.

BoM duty forecaster Tisha Winstanley told Daily Mail Australia: 'This is the first time since summer that we'll have a substantial cold front coming through WA.

'It will bring more rain than we've had for a while on Friday and Saturday morning before the skies clear.

'On Saturday a high pressure system will move in meaning it will be clear and sunny - but the temperature will be as low as 6C on Sunday morning.'

Adelaide will be 14C on Friday morning but will heat up to 31C by the afternoon before cooling off to 20C on Sunday.

Darwin will be a minimum of 25C and maximum of 34C over the weekend, while Hobart will have a low of 6C on Friday morning with a high of 24C on Sunday.

Brisbane will be hot over Easter with the mercury reaching 28C on Sunday while Canberra will hit 25C on the same day with a lows of 11C.
